FORDHAM DEAD AT 59
FORMER world champion and darts legend Andy Fordham has died at the age of 59.
“The Viking” beat Mervyn King in the final of the 2004 BDO World Championship and also claimed the Winmau World Masters in 1999.
Record-breaking darts champ Phil Taylor said: “When you think of the brightest stars to light up the oche, none of us shone brighter than Andy.
“Everywhere he went, the punters loved him.”
Chris Dobey tweeted a selfie with the ex-kent publican, saying: “It was an absolute pleasure to have worked and shared a stage with a true gent.”
Fordham, who admitted he could down 25 bottles of lager a day, weighed 31st at one point before shedding 17st. He contracted coronavirus in January.
