Step away from the aubergines

It’s aubergine not penis say angry growers

AUBERGINE growers want to reclaim the fruit’s emoji so people associate it with food instead of a willy.

The eggplant graphic is a hot favourite among online daters who use it to represent a penis.

But Matthew Simon, from Britain’s largest grower Glinwell PLC, said: “It’s great that the aubergine emoji is associated with such fun times.

“But with aubergines on the up, so to speak, we’d love shoppers to enjoy cooking with aubergines.

“Get cooking and don’t forget to use the aubergine emoji when posting your aubergine dishes.”

According to Keith Broni, of Emojipedia.org, the intention was always to “represent the vegetable”.

Growers want Brits to show their support by popping an aubergine into their shopping on World Emoji Day on Saturday.

GROWERS have got hot and bothered over our use of the aubergine symbol in sexy texts.

Wait til the fruit farmers find out about the peach.
