We’re the new Fab Four!

MÅNESKIN LOVE MANIA

-

EUROVISION champs Måneskin feel like The Beatles since triumphing at the song contest.

The Italian rockers are topping charts across Europe with I Wanna Be Your Slave, which is on course to hit No3 in the UK.

And with their cover of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons’ Beggin’ also in the Top 10, they are beginning to believe their own hype.

Singer Damiano David

said: “It’s amazing to see the impact we are having across Europe, in every country.”

Bassist Victoria De

Angelis agreed: “Every day we have people waiting outside our hotels. We feel like Lady Gaga. It’s almost like Beatlemania.”

Guitarist Thomas Raggi laughed: “The new Beatles? I can live with that.”

Victoria continued: “We’ve had fans before in Italy, but nothing like it is now. Since Eurovision, everything has become enormous.

“A lot of fans have told us that our music has helped them in difficult times. That’s the biggest compliment you can get.”

The band have had to overcome criticism to become successful, not only for doing Eurovision, but for partaking in Italy’s version of The X Factor.

Frontman Damiano added: “We don’t follow the rules. We’re not here to ask, ‘Is that a rock ’n’ roll thing to do?’ What’s important is our performances.”

Victoria agreed: “We’ve been told for years, ‘Rock can’t be mainstream any more.’ But it’s the music that counts, not where you play it.

“A lot of old rockers were insulted by our participation (in Eurovision). You can dislike a group for their music, but not for wanting to expose their music to a larger audience. That doesn’t make sense. Now we are playing huge shows. It’s been positive. It’s what all groups dream of.”

Thomas added: “The most important thing is we have been allowed to express ourselves with the music we love.”

They are only the second rock act to win Eurovision, after Lordi in 2006, so where are they keeping the trophy?

Victoria revealed: “The trophy is at Damiano’s.”

He added: “Next to my TV.” But not for long according to guitarist Thomas: “We are going to ask for joint custody.”
