WWI poppy sale
A WORLD War One poppy which was picked by the brother of a fallen British soldier over a century ago is expected to fetch thousands at auction.
The flower, described as “a poignant symbol of brotherly love”, was plucked by Christopher Lester in memory of sibling Private James Henry Lester. He died, aged 21, in France in 1916.
It could fetch up to £3,000 when it goes under the hammer at Hansons in Etwall, Derbys, on October 1.
