The news last spring that police were digging up a cafe cellar in Gloucestershire is a terrible reminder of the many lives destroyed by Britain’s most murderous couple.

FRED AND ROSE WEST: REOPENED 9pm, ITV) is a two-parter presented by Trevor Mcdonald in which he follows a team of experts as they reexamine the married serial killers’ crimes. They look at new evidence that there are more victims than the 12 already known to police, especially since before he committed suicide Fred West claimed to have buried 20 bodies at a place called ‘The Farm.’

The team of experts on the case includes those with specialist knowledge of the Wests as well as top sleuth Colin Sutton, a retired DCI who nabbed Milly Dowler’s killer Levi Bellfield and who, coincidentally, will again be portrayed by Martin Clunes in next week’s true-crime drama Manhunt II.

The show follows a forensic dig at the forementioned farm using sniffer dogs and radar and at the Gloucester cafe. The hope is to discover the extent of the Wests’ evil doing and bring closure to some of the bereaved families who are missing loved ones they suspect of having been victims of the Wests. Concludes tomorrow.

Check out what tractor boys Rob and Dave Nicholson have been up to at Cannon Hall Farm in South Yorkshire in the return of THIS WEEK ON THE FARM (9pm, C5). Escape to the farm with Helen Skelton and Jules Hudson as they follow all the action, which tonight includes a bit on the evolution of the combine harvester and a visit from a very special royal guest. You’ll have to tune in to see who.
