Exotic pets plea

PET laws need an overhaul to stop the trade in exotic animals damaging wild populations, campaigners say.

The Born Free Foundation and the RSPCA want owners to choose from a list of permitted animals, rather than seeing threatened species being individually banned. Some 1.8million reptiles such as iguanas, above, amphibians and invertebrates live in UK homes.
