Jabs are ‘personal decision’

personal choice. A personal thing for me.

“I have contracted the virus before, I am in Italy and for me it is the right thing to do.”

Tomori, who also left Chelsea this summer in a £30m move to AC Milan, refused to be drawn on whether he has been jabbed.

But he spelt out a widely held view in the England camp that the status of Southgate’s players should not be used to influence others.

There have been calls for football to lead the way on the vaccine so that more young people up and down the country follow suit.

But Tomori, 23, said: “I just want to keep it to myself.

“For any individual, it’s their own prerogative to take it or not.

“I understand why people want to know. We’re public figures and in the public eye.

“People are probably wondering or asking, ‘If they take it, maybe I’m going to take it’, or, ‘If they don’t take it, maybe I’m not’.

“But I don’t think it’s my place to say I’ve done this or that to influence other people. It’s up to every single person if they want to do it or not.”

England medics reminded Southgate’s players of their responsibilities ahead of Saturday’s game in Andorra but the vaccine was not discussed.

It comes as the Irish FA insisted it must “respect” and “accept” the choice of players not to be vaccinated after West Brom striker Callum Robinson revealed he opted out.

“I haven’t been vaccinated, no,” said Robinson. “That’s my choice at this moment in time.

“It’s obviously annoying that I’ve caught it twice but I haven’t been vaccinated.

“Further down the line I could change my mind and want to do it but at this moment in time, I haven’t.”
