Reece is the word for happy Christian
CHRISTIAN PULISIC says he wouldn’t be surprised if Reece James finishes the season as Chelsea’s top scorer.
The red-hot England right-back made it five for the campaign so far in Tuesday night’s 4-0 rout of Juventus in the Champions League.
James has more goals than anyone else at Stamford Bridge and when asked whether he can keep it up, team-mate Pulisic thinks so.
The USA star said: “Honestly, the way he is playing right now and the way he strikes the ball, I wouldn’t be surprised!
“He’s got so much ability. The sky is the limit for him.”
Pulisic reckons boss Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 system has helped James get among the goals by allowing him to bomb forward.
He said: “That’s what great about our system – it allows him to attack a lot.
“He was really strong against Juventus and you could see how much he helped us in attack.”
Attention now turns to Manchester United this weekend – with Pulisic hoping to play a part after his injury woes.
“I’m feeling really good,” the winger said. “My body is feeling much better and I’m getting even better.
“It was quite a tough injury to deal with. There were times when I thought I could come back but I was still dealing with too much pain. I’m in a much better place.”
United are hoping for a new-manager bounce after sacking Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – something
Chelsea got when Tuchel replaced Frank Lampard.
It has been a decent start with Michael Carrick at the helm, with United progressing to the last 16 of the Champions League with victory over Villarreal.
Pulisic said: “It’ll be a tough game regardless of who their coach is.
“We know what ability they have and what a strong team they are.”
