UP FOR THE OAKS

Gosden filly compared to Enable

FRANKIE DETTORI drew comparisons with Enable after Emily Upjohn ran out an impressive winner of the Tattersalls Musidora Stakes at York yesterday.

After pulling hard in the early stages, the daughter of Sea The Stars beat Life Of Dreams by five and a half lengths and is now the 5-4 favourite with Coral for next month’s Cazoo Oaks. “She’s getting there,” said Dettori, after winning the race for a record sixth time.

“At this stage Enable won at Chester and she’s probably on the same par, you know. In every race she’s improving. I’m delighted. We’ve always liked her from day one.”

Enable won the Oaks under Dettori in 2017, along with 10 other Group One races.

Winning trainer John Gosden (right) also shared Dettori’s enthusiasm for the unbeaten filly.

“She has plenty of stamina and will like the step to a mile and a half in the Oaks,” he said.

“She’s very well-balanced and there’s no reason why she shouldn’t handle the track.”

“We will have sausage and baked beans at Epsom on ‘Breakfast with the Stars’ morning and give her a canter round the track.” Gosden and Dettori followed up with Samburu in the Paddy Power Handicap.

Gosden pointed out that the son of Kingman will line up in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot if he runs at the meeting.

Highfield Princess booked a return ticket to Royal Ascot after her impressive victory in the 1895 Duke Of York Clipper Logistics Stakes in the hands of Jason Hart.

Winning trainer John Quinn said: “She was my first winner at Royal Ascot last year. She’s in the Platinum Jubilee, that’s the obvious next race for her.”
