Dragons will roar out loud
IMAGINE MISSION
IMAGINE Dragons are planning to bring their LBGTQ Love Loud Festival to the UK.
The star-studded charity event created by frontman Dan Reynolds
raises awareness and celebrates LBGTQ in areas of the US, but it will soon be spreading its wings.
Dan told me: “I care deeply about it and think the LBGTQ need allies and people to speak up and give them a platform and have a good time.
“We did it last month in Utah, sold it out, raised much money with artists like Willow and Anitta.
“We want to bring it over there, if it weren’t for Covid we already would have as the plan was to make it more international because Utah isn’t the only place that needs it. The communities that desperately need these conversations about loving and celebrating LBGTQ. That’s the goal.”
In the meantime Imagine Dragons headline Stadium MK in Milton Keynes tonight to 30,000 fans.
Dan told me: “It’s been amazing playing stadiums across Europe and it’s mind-blowing. We did 60,000 two nights in Prague, same in Hanover.
“We feel very blessed but it’s been a long road building up to this.
“The first places we played were 200-capacity clubs 10 years ago.”
But Covid means they can’t visit the Milton Keynes, er, sights: “We stick to our own bubble, luckily we are good friends and quite introverted as a band and stick together.”
They have also released new single Bones, the first tune from their new LP Mercury ACT 2 due next month.
Speaking about the accompanying video Dan told me: “The dialogue was to make a video in the realm of Wolf Of Wall Street meets Thriller. This is our first time doing choreography, we like pushing ourselves.”
