SERENA ONS SONG

SERENA WILLIAMS is making her singles comeback today because she believes she can win Wimbledon, her doubles partner has claimed.

The American wildcard will play her first Grand Slam match since limping out in the first round here last year against Harmony Tan of France.

Williams, 40, (inset) needs one more Grand Slam title to equal

Margaret Court’s record of 24.

She won her 23rd at the 2017

Australian Open when she was pregnant – and has lost four finals as a mother.

But Ons Jabeur, who played two matches with Williams in Eastbourne last week, said: “I think if she’s here, then she believes that she can win this tournament.

“I believe that she can. She’s a legend and she can do whatever she wants.”

New world No.2 Jabeur celebrated becoming the highest-ever ranked African player by beating Swedish qualifier Mirjam Bjorklund 6-1 6-3.

“I’m honestly living the dream,” said the Tunisian No.3 seed. “I always wanted to be at this level, to inspire players from my country, from my continent.”
