LOGAN, 5, KILLED BY MONSTER
Teen is pure evil, warned foster carers
LITTLE Logan Mwangi’s teen killer was a horror-film obsessed “monster” who moved in with the boy just five days before the murder.
A probe was under way into why Craig Mulligan – who was just 13 when he helped kill the five-year-old – was allowed in the home despite claims he was “pure evil”.
Foster carers warned he was “going to do something bad”.
A safeguarding review has been launched into failings that left Logan in the care of mum Angharad Williamson, 30, and racist stepdad John Cole, 40.
Mulligan, now 14, was raised in a violent household and was said to have “idolised” stepdad Cole.
His mother, Rebecca Trudgill, was in a relationship with Cole for 10 years that ended in 2019.
Cole met Williamson and the teen was taken into care after his mum faked a cancer diagnosis. As he had criminal convictions, Cole was banned from unsupervised contact with children. But in May 2020 he applied to have parental rights of Mulligan – and was given the go-ahead just five days before Logan was killed.
At Cardiff Crown Court a reporting restriction to protect Mulligan’s identity was lifted yesterday after he was given life with a minimum of 15 years for murder.
Cole was sentenced to 29 years and Williamson 28 years for murder. During a harrowing trial jurors were told how Logan had suffered horrific abuse before his death.
Cole and Mulligan were seen on CCTV dumping the youngster’s body in a river near Bridgend, South Wales, last July.
The Cwm Taf Morgannwg Safeguarding Board said they would be holding a child practice review into Logan’s death.
