MY girlfriend sends x-rated pictures of herself to guys she’s never met.
She thinks it’s funny to flirt, tease and wind people up. She hunts for victims on the internet. She lures them in with promises of cybersex and personal attention.
She describes how she lives in a vibrant town but is bored and sex starved. Would they like to see some raunchy pictures of her in return for a small cash donation? Of course they say “yes” and then she begins negotiating for a much larger sum.
When I object to this game, she quotes “market forces”, saying she has the goods and they want to see them.
Scam
I’ve accused her of everything from cheating to running a scam, but she refuses to accept that she does anything other than offer “adult services”.
She’s ferociously bright and always has her phone in her hand.
She enjoys online trading and doesn’t move without it.
Recently she had to go into hospital and the doctor had to tell her to stop looking at her phone and put it down.
I worry for her safety. I don’t believe that sending/selling xrated snaps to strangers is safe or healthy – do you? I accept that she’s never going to meet any of these men but her images are still out there.
Who knows what will happen to smutty photographs in future? Any of this stuff could come back to haunt her.
JANE SAYS: I suspect your girl gets turned on by taking and pinging over raunchy pictures of herself. The whole process gives her a massive ego boost and power kick.
Knowing that certain (desperate) guys are hanging on with bated breath for a flash of her flesh makes her feel invincible. But what about your relationship? If this behaviour isn’t acceptable to you, and she doesn’t care about that, then where do you go from here?
She might consider this game to be nothing but a massive laugh, but is this the pattern forever?
Are you expected to step back while she continues to knock herself out?
You mention the word “scam” and that’s very concerning.
Does this practice make her any better than other unscrupulous individuals who promise the world and prey on other vulnerable people over the internet?
As for her constantly checking and playing with her phone, that must be boring and tedious.
If she has time on her hands and a huge amount of brain power, then why isn’t she doing great things to improve the world and the lives of the people around her?
You need to consider whether you and she have anything in common anymore. From where I’m sitting, she sounds manipulative, greedy and vile.
