KING READY TO TAKE GIANTS LEAP

- by DAVE CRAVEN

HUDDERSFIELD boss Ian Watson says new signing Toby King has a “massive opportunity” to instantly shine.

He only joined from Warrington in a loan swap deal with fellow centre Jake Wardle on Saturday.

King, 25, was not expected to get many chances given Giants duo Ricky Leutele and Leroy Cudjoe’s brilliant form.

But Samoa centre Leutele injured knee ligaments the following day against Hull KR and could now be out for three months. That means

King (right), out of favour at Wolves, comes straight in to debut for Huddersfield at Castleford tonight.

On Leutele’s injury, Watson said: “Twelve weeks is borderline the play-offs area so we’d need to do our job well to be in them for Ricky to get back.

“He’s seeing a specialist and fingers crossed it’s not as bad as that. He’s a great guy and great player who’s been massively important to what we’ve achieved.

“It’s going to be a loss but it presents a massive opportunity for Toby.

“Being able to bring in someone of his quality is massive. They’re big shoes to fill but I’m more than confident he can do that.”

Castleford are looking for a third successive win after Sunday’s golden-point success over Catalans.

Third-placed Huddersfield have been winning fans aplenty after reaching the Challenge Cup final.

But Tigers boss Lee Radford said: “If you look at what they’re spending you’d expect them to have a fair old year.

“With the squad they’ve got and the people that don’t make their 17. They should be up there.

“If we can get a result Friday and results go our way, we can take a step up the ladder. We’re trying to build some momentum going into the back end of the season.”
