‘I offered Sarina a beer at brekky and she said, ‘Please don’t!’

LUCY KEEN TO GIVE THEIR DUTCH COACH LESSONS IN ENGLISH WAYS

LUCY BRONZE revealed she and the Lionesses partied until 4am – and then got up and went all over again.

They celebrated their Euros success back at the Lensbury Hotel in West London after one of the greatest days in English football history.

The booze was flowing – they even got Sarina Wiegman to have a beer – they danced and sang and then even tried to persuade their Dutch manager to have a pint for breakfast!

The England players failed with that but did take to the stage again in front of 7,000 spectators at Trafalgar Square in a celebration for the Lionesses after their Euros victory at Wembley.

Bronze, talking from behind a pair of sunglasses after the party at Trafalgar Square, said: “I think Sarina was finding it hard to keep up with the English ways. She had a few comments this morning!

“I tried to give her a beer before she started the meeting and she was like, ‘Please don’t, Lucy.’

“We have been winding her up but it’s something she’ll have to get used to now she’s an honorary Englishwoman. She’ll have to get practising (drinking beer). Hopefully we can have more nights like that so she’s going to need it!

“I was going to say I feel tired but I feel better after that. I think most of us only got a couple of hours sleep. Hence the sunglasses. I feel like I’m on top of the world. Crazy dancing, cake, drinks, dancing again. The last message I sent on my phone was at four o’clock in the morning. It didn’t make much sense.

“And then we all had to get up at half past eight to have a meeting and then come here.

“It hasn’t sunk in, we were all saying that it still doesn’t feel quite normal. When we get home on the sofa, having a glass of orange juice or cup of tea, that will be the moment where you think, ‘It’s insane, we’re champions of Europe.’”

The celebration at Trafalgar Square was awash with flags, England shirts and banners after the 2-1 triumph over Germany on Sunday.

They had to shut the gates 90 minutes before Wiegman and her players even took to the stage.

There was space for 7,000 fans on a first-come, first-served basis and it felt like they could have filled the famous London landmark 10 times over.

The feel-good factor from Wembley just carried over into Trafalgar Square as it was such a wonderful, friendly buzz

around the place. Kids on parents’ shoulders, they cheered Wiegman and her heroic Lionesses onto the stage and when they played ‘It’s Coming Home’ it really felt like it had.

White shirts, orange shirts and flags of St George. The music blaring out. What a party. This was another breath of fresh air as men, women and kids of all ages just cheered and got into the party spirit.

Captain Leah Williamson said: “This team likes to work hard – but we like to party hard! And that’s all I was thinking about at the final whistle.”

Bronze admits the competition for places for next year’s World Cup will be fiercer than ever but also says she would love to see England host the tournament in 2027.

And the right-back insists she wants to play in it, comparing herself to teammate Jill Scott who is 35. Bronze added: “I’ll be 35, so I could still play, I could do that. Jill’s here. If she’s doing it, I can.

“I think that literally the only thing that could top this tournament would be a home World Cup and the chance to do all this again but on an even bigger stage. That would be incredible.

“Fingers crossed. Any World Cup final would do for us.”
