Allen key to Bills breaking hoodoo

- AMERICAN FOOTBALL with IAN WHITTELL

QUARTERBACK Josh Allen is ready to help the Buffalo Bills end nearly 30 years of hurt and lead them to their first Super Bowl win.

A 41-7 victory over the Tennessee Titans on Monday made it two wins out of two for Allen (inset) and sets up a thriller on Sunday against division rivals the Miami Dolphins, who are also 2-0.

Long-suffering Bills fans, still smarting from a run of four straight Super Bowl defeats in the early 1990s, are beginning to believe this is their year.

Allen, who threw four touchdowns on Monday, believes that in this form, his

Bills will take some stopping. “When we execute how we know we’re supposed to execute, success typically leads to success,” he said.

“We’re just trying to be the best version of ourselves.”

It has not been all good news for Buffalo this week, however, with lineman Bobby Hart suspended for hitting an opposition coach. The 6ft 5in Bills star was aiming at a Titans player after the game but hit a coach instead, although Hart plans to appeal his one-match ban.

The Dolphins will be a big test after they stormed back from a 21-point deficit to stun the Baltimore Ravens 42-38 on Sunday.

Another perfect 2-0 team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, also have suspension problems with wide receiver Mike Evans banned for this weekend’s clash with the Green Bay Packers.

The Bucs, without injured receivers Chris Godwin and Julio Jones, have lost Evans after he sparked a mass brawl in a scrap with Marshon Lattimore as Tampa beat the New Orleans Saints.

Of the league’s other perfect 2-0 teams, the Philadelphia Eagles visit division rivals Washington on Sunday.
