Meta to dismiss 11,000

FACEBOOK’S owner Meta is sacking 11,000 people as part of a major restructuring.

The firm, which also owns WhatsApp and Instagram, is laying off 13% of its workforce.

Boss Mark Zuckerberg said the job cuts were the “most difficult changes” Meta has had to make.

He said he “took full responsibility” for mistakes such as hiring staff rapidly during the pandemic when the firm’s revenue surged.

Zuckerberg added: “I’m especially sorry to those impacted.”
