Putin’s puppet dies in smash

-

THE Moscow-installed deputy head of Ukraine’s Kherson region has died in a car accident.

Kirill Stremousov, 45, was killed near Henichesk, a port city along the Sea of Azov in the Kherson Oblast of southern Ukraine.

Mikhail Razvozhayev, the governor of Sevastopol in Crimea, has confirmed Stremousov’s death.

He said: “He was a true patriot of Russia – brave and courageous.”

The BBC’s Ukraine correspondent, James Waterhouse, said Stremousov was “hated” by Kyiv and had been the face of the Russian occupation there.

THE Pope has held a series of “secret meetings” in a bid to broker peace in Ukraine.

Pope Francis urged warring leaders Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky to come together at the Vatican for talks to end the conflict.

He also called on the US and EU chiefs to join in after meeting French President Emmanuel Macron last month.
