Mendy ‘poses risk to women’
MAN City footballer Benjamin Mendy is a “danger to women”, the jury in his rape trial has heard.
Timothy Kray KC, prosecuting, asked Mendy: “You didn’t really see them as people, just things to be used for sex. That’s how you would get it terribly wrong about whether they were consenting or not?” Mendy replied: “No.” Chester Crown Court heard Mendy threw lockdown-busting parties at his home in the pandemic.
Mr Kray said: “Did you think the rules did not apply to you? You had parties because you had this lust for sex?” Mendy said: “No.”
Mr Kray said: “You were a danger to women, weren’t you? Because you did not see any consequences of breaking really important rules?” Mendy said: “No, never.”
The footballer said he was “trying to be direct, to avoid conversation, go on dates...” when asked by his barrister Eleanor Laws KC about his attitude to women at the time.
Mendy denies seven rapes, one attempted rape and one sexual assault against six women.
Pal Louis Saha Matturie, 41, denies six rapes and three sexual assaults relating to seven women.
The trial continues.
