Fake sale tenant is locked up

A TENANT who tried to sell his landlord’s £400,000 house has been jailed for two and a half years.

Conman Andrew Smith, 41, rented the home in Cambridge in February 2020, then listed it for sale on a fake online agency.

In June 2022 one buyer who had agreed a price was alerted by neighbours who said it was rented.

Smith admitted fraud and entering into money laundering at Brighton Magistrates’ Court.
