Indian summer gives Rohit his confidence

-

ROHIT SHARMA feels the confidence his team still has from their 2-1 series win over England in the summer will help them triumph in Adelaide.

It might be a different country, and in different tournament conditions, but the knowledge that India took a 2-0 unassailable lead over England with two thumping victories by 50 and 49 runs is something they can hold on to.

England are yet to beat India in a T20 series, and have lost each of the last four dating back to 2014.

“Going into the game, it’ll give us some confidence because beating a team like England in England, obviously it’s a big ■ from DEAN WILSON challenge, and we overcame that challenge pretty well,” said India skipper Rohit (inset).

“We do understand the dynamics of T20 cricket. You just have to be good on that particular day. But certainly the guys will have some confidence.

“On the day we just need to be better than them to come out on top. It’s just that you can carry that confidence with you.”

With Pakistan making it through to the final that so many people are itching to see, England have an added motivation to try to spoil the party.

And Rohit is wary of their threats, even if he still believes that India will come out on top.

“These guys are quite dangerous,” he added. “They’ve played some really good cricket in the tournament, which is why they’re here.

“So we’ve got to be at our best to win the game. We are proud to have reached this part of the tournament.

“There is a simple logic to it and we have to play good cricket to get the result, which we have done so far.”
