Egg yob rant at Charles

-

A STUDENT suspected of chucking eggs at the King said the monarch should sell his crown to pay to fix the climate crisis.

Patrick Thelwell, 23, is on police bail after cops swooped during an incident on a walkabout in York by King Charles.

The Extinction Rebellion activist – who formerly stood to be a Green Party councillor – defended his suspected actions because he thinks it is “funny”.

Thelwell had said he has been banned from carrying eggs in public and cannot be within 500 metres of the King as part of his bail conditions.

Thelwell, who is studying at York University, said: “I think if Charles really cared about climate change then he would renounce the throne and give that hat that he’s wearing made out of stolen diamonds towards paying to fix the climate crisis.”

The alleged stunt was further mired in controversy as it was rumoured Thelwell was a vegan, although he later decided that he was a vegetarian who “supported the animal rights movement”.
