Part of shuttle is found
A LARGE section of the destroyed space shuttle Challenger has been found at the bottom the Atlantic.
Kennedy Space Center announced the discovery on Thursday.
NASA manager Michael Ciannilli confirmed the remnant’s authenticity on underwater video footage.
He said: “My heart skipped a beat and it brought me right back to 1986... and what we all went through as a nation.”
All seven on board were killed, including the first schoolteacher bound for space, Christa McAuliffe.
Divers spotted the fragment just off the Florida coast near Cape Canaveral.
