All I want is food
U2 STAR ‘LOVES SLOPPY SECONDS’
U2 LEGEND Adam Clayton scavenges for food thrown away by strangers.
The group’s frontman, Bono, revealed: “I would see Adam all through our touring life eating the leftovers from trays put outside hotel rooms – half a cheeseburger here, a slice of cold pizza there.” The pair, both 62, went to school together in Dublin and Bono, inset, said his Englishborn bass player, left, lapped up leftovers then too.
He added: “At school lunch Adam, ‘the posh boy,’ would stand beside the slops bowl and fork out of the food bin an odd potato that looked unused or three-quarters of a sausage floating like a body in a cold sea of beans.”
In new book Surrender, Bono also tells how he and Adam would snaffle sarnies from bandmates Larry Mullen Jr and Edge.
