Harder line for crazies
IT’S time police were given the nod and, if necessary, the legal means to take a harder line with the crazies of Just Stop Oil.
The chief constable of Essex Police has warned that somebody will be killed if protests continue after one of his coppers was knocked off his motorcycle while trying to sort out chaos on the M25. And he’s spot on.
This week my friend the broadcaster James Whale was scheduled for cancer treatment, but was unable to make the appointment due to the protests.

What we need is leadership from No10.
We need a statement from politicians and the courts making it clear that officers should enforce the law, not just try to keep the peace.
And when protesters are arrested, it’s six months minimum in jail, or at least an electronic tag so they can’t return the next day.
If we’d started tagging these menaces when the latest protests started, they’d have run out of foot soldiers by now.
