Hero Hales warms heart

AS SPORTING redemptions go, the one Alex Hales has undergone is among the most uplifting of all.

A positive drug test in 2019 led to Hales being ostracised from the England white-ball set-up. It was the right decision and Hales deserved to be punished.

Eoin Morgan, who was captain of the T20 side at the time, hammered Hales for showing “a complete disregard for our values”.

But Hales also deserved a second chance, which he has taken with both hands to help fire England into the World T20 final against Pakistan.

Hales (right) disregarded the Indian bowling attack with a stunning knock of 86 not out from 47 balls in Adelaide.

If he can repeat his heroics in Melbourne on Sunday, England could well become double world champions.

And Hales will no longer be a villain – he will be a legend of the game.
