Navy in the Gulf
THREE Royal Navy warships have begun patrols and mine-hunting missions to ensure security during the World Cup.
HMS Chiddingfold and HMS Bangor will use sonar and underwater remotecontrolled devices to check sea lanes in the Arabian Gulf surrounding Qatar.
And HMS Middleton is ready “to provide additional support if needed”.
A navy spokesman said the fleet will “make sure the world’s greatest festival of football is not ruined by a hostile act”.
