CRYSTAL PALACE manager Patrick Vieira has backed Gareth Southgate’s decision to take struggling Manchester United centre-half Harry Maguire to Qatar while his own promising defender Marc Guehi stays at home.

But Vieira has no doubt that Guehi (inset) will be in plenty of England squads in the future.

“I think Maguire is a top player,” said Vieira ahead of Palace’s game at Nottingham Forest today.

“If you compare Marc to Maguire, I would say the difference is that Maguire knows the international level that Marc doesn’t know yet.

“I don’t have no doubt he’ll represent England in the near future.”
