Men regret bit on side

PLAYING away from home makes you happier – but only if you are a woman.

Ladies who have affairs find themselves more satisfied with life and have greater self-esteem.

In many cases it made them realise what they are missing by staying with their partner.

But for men, having a fling had the opposite effect.

They “were more negatively affected”, and generally realised they were better off where they were before.

Dutch researchers at Tilburg University studied 609 Germans who had been having an affair and 338 who had been cheated on over 12 years.

Boffins said: “Our analyses detected one group of participants who seem to recover and even thrive after infidelity – unfaithful women. “Potentially, women’s affairs are more likely to be a result of partner dissatisfaction.” A YouGov poll in 2015 revealed nearly one in five Brits had had an affair.
