Online violence for kids
SOCIAL media violence has been seen by more than half of young people aged 13 to 17.
That includes fighting, threats and sexual assaults, a survey for the Youth Endowment Fund found.
It also revealed 24% had seen another child carrying a weapon online and 14% had skipped school because they feared being a victim of violence.
The YEF’s Jon Yates said: “Far too many children are being exposed to real-life, violent content on social media. This matters.”
He urged web companies to “do much more”.
