OWNERS IN FAKE GUIDE DOG SCAM
PET lovers are dressing up their pooches as guide dogs to get into places where they would normally be banned.
Some even add fake signs to their hounds to con staff in shops, restaurants and hotels, says a disability charity.
But workers have become suspicious of people who really are blind.
The Buckinghamshire Disability Service said there was a small group of “anti-social people who falsely represent pets as assistance dogs”.
They said the fraudsters were causing “frontline staff to be mistrustful and apprehensive”.
The warning comes after a blind woman said she was forced to leave the London hotel in which she was staying in the middle of the night because staff believed the animal with her “looked like a fake guide dog”.
