Joe hits a three pointer

- ■ by SIMON BIRD

HE slam-dunked Chelsea with his 67th-minute goal – and now match-winner Joe Willock is heading to New York for the real thing.

He will do so after saying another “statement win” means the “sky is the limit” for Newcastle.

Willock said: “I am so happy. We are here to compete, not just take part. We must reach our goals. There is a long way to go. But this was a huge win.”

The former Arsenal star has been given a big role by boss Eddie Howe and added: “I’m confident. The belief the manager has shown me has been huge. I am trying to repay him.

“I’ve come on leaps and bounds. I’m enjoying my game. I’m off to New York for a basketball game, I did the celebration for that.

Howe said: “We probably didn’t want the break with our momentum. It has been more than we could have hoped for at the start of the season.

“The night games here are very special. It was a great win.”
