Buttler ‘has created legacy’

-

HOW much of an impact can one man have in six months?

Turns out, quite a lot. In that short time Jos Buttler (inset) has become a T20 World Cup winning captain, and he has done it his way.

The task of following in the footsteps of a great leader like

Eoin Morgan was always going to be tricky. And it was far from plain sailing with three series defeats out of four in the summer that put Buttler under pressure.

But his calm, yet focused approach has paid off with his team responding to his leadership, his tactics and his man-management. He brought back Alex Hales, something Morgan would never have done.

He gave Ben Stokes a clear and defined role that brought the best out of the all rounder even when some doubted it. He delivered as a player, too.

Stokes said:

“When Eoin stepped down and Jos took over, look how quickly he has managed to take control of the team and progress it from the legacy that Morgs left. Jos has now created his own legacy.”
