A French takeover

THE Paris stock market has overtaken London’s as the biggest in Europe.

It now has a combined value of £2.40trillion, while the UK’s is worth around £2.39tr, financial news company Bloomberg said.

Michael Saunders, a former Bank of England policymaker, said the UK’s economy had been “permanently damaged” by Brexit.
