Agency workers strike on
WORKERS at the Environment Agency have voted to strike over pay for the first time in the organisation’s 26year history.
Staff – including river inspectors, flood forecasters, coastal risk managers and sewageplant workers – had already rejected an “insulting” 2% pay offer plus a £345 one-off payment.
Unison said 72% of its 2,800 members in England have voted to take action.
The union added: “Environment Agency workers have been taken for granted for long enough and feel it’s now time to take a stand.”
