Doctors ‘can cut corners’
HEALTH staff have been given the green light to ignore “established rules to care for people” this winter.
The UK’s four chief medical officers warned the pressures will be “significant and potentially prolonged” amid the combined effect of backlogs, Covid, flu and strikes.
In a letter, they allowed doctors and nurses to cut corners to cope with the winter demand and keep the health service going.
It reassured health staff that any complaints will be seen in the context of “local realities and the need at times to adapt practice”.
