TESCO WEB CRASH CHAOS

- By JAMES CAVEN news@dailystar.co.uk

SHOPPERS looking to secure a Tesco Christmas week food delivery slot were left fuming after its website crashed yesterday.

The site went down with more than 290,000 people queuing for a prized window between December 12 and 24.

Tesco said the service struggled to cope with the number of people logging on, but went back online later. Customers waited hours, with some complaining they had lost their place.

One said: “I was 38,000 in the queue and the app ‘refreshed’ itself and now I’m number 178,000. You’re having a laugh.”

Tesco said it would be releasing more slots on November 22 at 6am, adding it was “really sorry” about the problem.
