SAMAN GHODDOS believes footballers must use their World Cup platform to speak out about human rights injustices – beginning with the plight facing anti-regime protesters in Iran.

Iran is in the middle of an uprising that has claimed more than 300 lives and seen the government vote in favour of sentencing thousands of protestors to death.

Brentford star Ghoddos (inset) said: “People are losing their lives fighting for freedom. If you think it’s the right thing to do, you should speak out.”
