Strike threats

FIREFIGHTERS are to vote on strikes after rejecting a 5% pay offer.

Fire Brigades Union members will be balloted from December 5.

If they vote in favour, it threatens the first national strike over pay since 2003.

General secretary Matt Wrack said: “Members worked through the pandemic to help protect their communities.

“A further real-terms pay cut is an absolutely disgusting way to thank them.”

● RAIL workers in the RMT have voted to continue their industrial action in a fresh ballot.
