FAMILY HOL? NO, I WANNA MATECATION
Pals tops for breaks
WE prefer going on holiday with our mates to a trip with the family.
A survey reveals that 60% would rather enjoy a “matecation” than a break with their partner and kids.
And 72% of us would happily choose pals over our other halves.
Men are most likely with 69% saying they would prefer to go away with chums, the easyJet poll shows.
Nearly one third of Brits say the main reason for a matecation is to escape the problems and rigours of family life. They want a chance to let their hair down (45%), have a less stressful experience (43%) and have fewer rows (30%). Psychologist Jo Hemmings said: “With 71% of Brits reporting bickering with their family while abroad, people are choosing to holiday with friends knowing that they will have more in common.”
