SATURDAY NIGHTS ARE ALRIGHT

-

INDIANAPOLIS caretaker boss Jeff Saturday will be looking to add to Philadelphia’s woes as he continues his unlikely coaching career with the Colts.

While the Eagles were losing the last perfect record in the NFL against Washington, Saturday was making an even more unlikely move.

No NFL team has appointed a coach with zero experience in the college or pro ranks for more than 60 years.

But Saturday (inset), who had only coached at high school level, gave up a job as a TV commentator to take over the Colts last week. His debut game ended in a 25-20 win at the Las Vegas Raiders and next up on Sunday are the Eagles, fresh from their first loss of the season.

Colts owner Jim Irsay took criticism after axing Frank Reich and appointing Saturday but now looks like he knew what he was doing. Irsay said: “I knew he had those abilities to come in and be a great leader and take over right away.”

The Eagles lost 32-21 to Washington on Monday and coach Nick Sirianni pulled no punches. He blasted: “We played like crap.”
