RON YER BIKE
MANCHESTER UNITED players don’t want Cristiano Ronaldo to return, following his explosive interview in which he blasted the club.
Old Trafford stars do not expect to see Ronaldo (right) again after the World Cup.
They have grown tired of the Portugal ace’s whining and posturing over his perceived
mistreatment, according to sources.
The United hierarchy, comprising owner Joel Glazer, chief executive Richard Arnold, football director John Murtough and boss Erik ten Hag have been locked in talks over how to deal with Ronaldo in the wake of his interview, in which he claimed the club “betrayed” him.
United have sought legal advice about how best to resolve the issue, with Ronaldo having accused club bosses of trying to force him out and declaring he has “no respect” for boss Ten Hag.
Ronaldo’s claim there had been “zero progress” at Old Trafford since he returned, also annoyed United. He said the club he left in 2009 had failed to move on since Sir Alex Ferguson retired four years later.
United hit back, pointing out several areas at the club which have undergone transformation and have been enhanced.
United have undertaken a significant improvement programme at their training base, including a new player briefing room and refurbishments of the swimming pool and restaurant. More investment is planned in new facilities for the women’s team, while architects have been appointed for long-term redevelopment.
