Peak re-brand
THE highest mountain in Wales is getting a new name for visitors to the country.
Snowdon at 3,560ft will officially be called “Yr Wyddfa”, its traditional Welsh name, after a vote by Snowdonia National Park authorities, and Snowdonia will be “Eryri”.
It follows a petition signed by over 5,000 people last year and will allow people from across the globe to “engage with the Welsh language” and its “special qualities”.
