FATE’S IN OUR HANDS

-

TEMPTING fate is never a good thing when it comes to sport.

Like imagining various England teams could go on to become world champions in the space of a few golden weeks.

As it turns out, just one of them succeeded in the shape of Jos Buttler (right) and his side, who won the World T20 final against

Pakistan. Elsewhere, both the male and female rugby league teams suffered crushing semi-final losses.

The most shattering loss of all belonged to the England women’s rugby union side, who went down in the World Cup final to New Zealand 34-31. Those who claim it’s the taking part that counts and not the winning are peddling a myth.

All the great sides know how to win when it matters most and if England are not careful, the nation will gain a reputation for being chokers.
