Ream come true for Tim

TIM REAM admitted he felt his chance of playing in a World Cup had gone – until a shock phone call from USA boss Gregg Berhalter confirmed his call-up.

At 35, Fulham defender Ream was ready to accept he would never play at a World Cup, despite an international career that had earned him 46 caps.

He said: “I didn’t expect to be here, so to get a call from Gregg to invite me and put me back in the squad is great. It’s something we all dream of as a kid.”
