Millions in PPE dumped

MILLIONS of pounds of out-of-date PPE is set to go to the tip.

It was bought as part of a £12billion Government investment during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Waste and recycling company Divert says it has been contacted by hospitals, GP surgeries and even suppliers looking to safely get rid of the gear.

Requests cover more than quarter of a million masks and 900 pallets of hand sanitiser in the past week alone.

Mark Hall, from the firm, said: “This is happening up and down the whole country, and it’s mind-blowing.”
