FLATPACK BULLY

Lucy aims to be best thing out of Sweden since IKEA

- By CHRIS McKENNA

SWEDISH star Lucy Wildheart aims to prove she can pack a punch by flattening rivals to become as famous in the UK as her homeland brand IKEA.

The 29-year-old is a promising fighter who left her life in Sweden to ply her trade on these shores.

Essex-based puncher Wildheart is facing Marina Sakharov over eight rounds at featherweight next Friday night on a Wasserman Channel 5 show.

It’s a chance for her to win over some fans and maybe even secure more fights with a major promoter.

And Wildheart hopes to become a fans’ favourite over here where some of Sweden’s biggest exports have become household names.

She said: “I’m very excited to base my career over here and my whole journey to a world title here.

“I’ve always liked Great Britain. I’ve lived here for five years now, the British fans are some of the most passionate.

“I hope with my style I can get the British fans to follow me. Who knows, one day I might be as big as ABBA and IKEA here?”

Wildheart turned to the UK five years ago and left her life behind in Sweden, making the decision to move after appearing on a card in Portsmouth in her second pro fight.

She said: “Six weeks later I sold everything I owned and moved to England. My family know I’m relentless and I do what I want.

“I can’t help myself. If I want something, I go grab it. I’ve always been like that.”

Wildheart has ambitions to become a world champion and already knows how to spend the money to celebrate.

“I love horses,” she said. “I want to buy one when I win a world title and call it ‘Champ.’ “It’s not been easy but I hope one day it will be worth it.”
