CARR AS QUICK AS A CHARIOT!
LEGENDARY winger Martin Offiah believes Australia flier Josh Addo-Carr is the nearest thing to him when it comes to pace and excitement.
Former Wigan and England star ‘Chariots’ Offiah wowed crowds with his sheer speed and try-scoring prowess in the 1980s and 1990s.
Addo-Carr has scored 12 tries in five World Cup games so far ahead of today’s final against Samoa, who have their own star winger in Brian To’o. Offiah said: “That should be a great battle and they’re both brilliant wingers.
“But Josh Addo-Carr has really been immense. He missed out on State of Origin this year so he came into this tournament with a point to prove and he’s done that.
“I still get people messaging me from Australia saying Josh Addo-Carr is the fastest winger they’ve seen since me and I think he is. I can’t wait to see what he does in the final. It should be a quality contest.”
Offiah visited Folly Lane ARLFC in Swinton yesterday after the club received £9,552 of National Lottery RLWC21 CreatedBy funding.
