HE GOES ROUND FOR SEX
MY husband has another woman he won’t give up.
Despite being married to me, he continues to creep round to his mistress’s house for sex.
He comes home reeking of her overpowering perfume. He tosses his sweaty underpaints and lipstick-covered shirts in the washing basket without bothering to cover his tracks.
More than once I’ve found condoms in his jacket pocket and flimsy panties in his work bag (I’m convinced she plants them on purpose just to hurt and humiliate me). I feel as though I’m going mad.
Coward
He was in a relationship with her when we first met. We fell in love at work, and he promised to give her up.
In the early days of our marriage, he used to lie through his teeth. He pretended that he was going on work trips or away with mates on football and fishing trips. Then I caught them out in a hotel bar. I was there with colleagues on a work night out. He spotted me and literally hid under a table like a coward.
I ordered her to leave him alone, while my colleagues (who’d had a few drinks) screamed at him for hurting me. He was absolutely furious. After that, everything changed, for the worse. He’s stopped lying and now simply tells me he’s “going out”. If I attempt to bar the door or confront him, he laughs in my face. He does what he likes.
I see his lover all over town. She ignores me and I avoid her.
What gets me is that she’s not particularly attractive. My friends can only assume that she’s fantastic in bed. I’m prepared to believe it because he’s certainly not interested in getting naked with me anymore.
What’s to be done?
JANE SAYS: Your husband hurts and insults you every time he returns home stinking of someone else. The man is selfish and cruel.
If he doesn’t wish to remain married to you, then why doesn’t he move out and live with his mistress?
Does he simply use you for food, a laundry service and respectability and her for exciting sex?
Do not allow him to break you. He has to hear that this current situation is rotten to the core. He may have been with her before you first met, but you never imagined that she’d stay in your lives forever. How is this kind or fair?
What does he think he’s playing at?
I suspect he was furious the night you and your colleagues exposed him in that hotel and, sadly, you’ve paid the price ever since.
The man is arrogant, and self-entitled and needs to be given the boot. He is a thorn in your side.
I suspect your confidence and self-respect have never been lower, but you have to find a way of reclaiming your life. Speak to the friends and family who you love and get their support and help in moving on.
