LEADERS WILL START AT BACK

-

IPSWICH manager Kieran McKenna praised his side’s defending as they moved to within two points of League One leaders Plymouth with a 2-0 victory at Exeter.

Freddie Ladapo’s ninth goal of the season put them in front and Marcus Harness scored the second.

“To keep a clean sheet was a big part of it,” said McKenna.

“It was a good, solid away performance where we controlled the game with and without the ball. There were lots of positives to take.”

Fourth-placed Peterborough are nine points adrift of Wednesday after going down 1-0 to Bristol Rovers to make it back-to-back defeats.

Scott Sinclair netted the winner and earned high praise from Gas boss Joey Barton, who said: “Scott’s finish was exceptional but his all-round performance was first class.

“He just radiated calmness and confidence because he’s an incredible professional whose composure inspired everyone around them.” Posh had defender Ronnie Edwards sent off, and manager Grant McCann said: “It was a bad day at the office for us.”

Ian Evatt was pleased with the way Bolton “kept on probing” in their last-gasp 2-1 win at

Fleetwood.

Conor Bradley equalised in the 85th minute before Oladapo Afolayan hit the winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time to ensure his manager enjoyed a happy 41st birthday.

And Afolayan fancies a less stressful 90 minutes next time out.

He said: “It’s great to pop up with two late goals but we’d like to make it easier for ourselves.”

Bottom side Forest Green gained a valuable point in a 1-1 draw with Oxford but Morecambe lost 2-1 to Lincoln and

MK Dons were beaten 3-1 by Barnsley.

Alfie May made it five goals in two games against Wycombe with the winner in a 1-0 Cheltenham victory.

Accrington and Port Vale won by the same scoreline against Cambridge and Charlton respectively.
